*Happy New Year!! Farm Updates*
A very happy new year to all our supporters!! As we see 2017 out and welcome in 2018, now seemed a good time to update you all on all things Folly’s!!
In September we welcomed a new pony to our family – Gemma. Those of you who have followed us for some time will know that we lost one of our ponies earlier in the year – also Gemma – so it seemed a spooky coincidence that another Gemma should come along shortly after. But came along she did, and as her owners were struggling to cope with her increasing age health problems, we have now offered her a home for life. Gemma prefers to live out in the field rather than be stabled.
We also welcomed another donkey to Folly’s Farm at the end of last year – Bluey. He had a rough start to life when he was abused by his owners as a young donkey, but was thankfully rescued from that situation many years ago by some kind strangers, and had been living in a caring home, until recent circumstances meant his owners could no longer look after him. It was at this point we were approached to take him, and he is now living happily here at Folly’s.
Sadly the end to 2017 brought sadness, and we lost our beloved Patrick. He had been suffering from a number of ailments for some time, which we had managed, but he became acutely unwell early in December, and the decision was made to end his suffering. Patrick was a huge character on the farm and will be sadly missed.
So now we are in 2018 and in the midst of winter. The snow and cold weather always makes life somewhat more difficult at the farm – the donkeys are spending more time in their stables and therefore we use more bedding, and also require more hay for feeding. We are once again running our hay and straw appeal this year, so if you are able we would very grateful if you use the red button on this website to make a donation. Every little helps!!!
We will of course let you know when we will be open again in the spring. Meanwhile why not follow us on Facebook to keep up to date with all things Folly’s? We would love to see you there!
